About Pluton

Pluton is an open-source, self-hosted backup solution that provides end-to-end encryption for your data. It supports over 70 cloud storage providers and gives you complete control over your backups.

Pluton is a self-hosted, open-source backup solution designed to give users complete control over their data. It emphasizes security through end-to-end encryption, ensuring data privacy before it leaves the user's device. Pluton supports the 3-2-1 backup strategy, allowing for data replication across multiple storage locations for redundancy.

The software offers automated and efficient backups by performing periodic, incremental backups that minimize storage usage and transfer times. Its scheduler automates the entire backup process. Pluton uses the Restic engine for encryption and compression.

Pluton features a simple, intuitive interface for managing backup plans, monitoring progress, and restoring data. It is lightweight, requiring minimal system resources, and can be deployed via Docker or as a standalone executable on any major operating system. It supports over 70 cloud storage providers, including Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, and Google Drive.

Additional features include real-time progress monitoring, smart retention policies for managing storage space, effortless data restoration with a guided wizard, in-depth logging for troubleshooting, and no vendor lock-in, allowing users to migrate between cloud providers. Pluton also offers two-factor authentication, direct snapshot downloads, backup browsing within the UI, auto-retry logic, custom scripting before/after backups, and instant backup notifications via Slack, Discord, Email, or NTFY push notifications.

Pluton offers both a free open-source version and paid PRO and Business editions. The PRO edition includes features like managing remote machine backups, real-time sync backups, full Linux server backups, viewing and downloading files from snapshots, comparing snapshot changes, automated recovery testing, and backup email reports. The Business edition, coming soon, will add database backup, virtual machine backup, backup cloud storage content, role-based access, 3rd party secret providers, white-labeling, and priority support.
