About Pauseless

Pauseless is a free and open-source tool that removes silences and pauses from videos directly in your browser, allowing export to various video editing software or as a finished MP4.

Pauseless is designed to streamline the video editing process by automatically identifying and removing silent sections from recordings. It operates entirely within the user's browser, ensuring that no video files are ever uploaded to external servers, which guarantees privacy and allows for offline use. The tool supports common video and audio formats like MP4, MOV, M4A, and WAV.

The workflow involves dropping a recording into the browser interface, where Pauseless analyzes only the audio to quickly detect quiet parts. Users can then fine-tune the cuts by adjusting parameters such as the silence threshold, minimum pause length, and padding around speech. A timeline and preview update instantly to reflect these changes, providing immediate feedback.

Once the cuts are finalized, Pauseless offers flexible export options. Users can generate editable timelines compatible with professional video editing software, including Final Cut Pro (.fcpxml), DaVinci Resolve (.fcpxml), Premiere Pro (.xml), and CapCut (project folder). For other editors, an .edl file can be exported. Alternatively, users can render and export the finished, cut video directly as an MP4 file to their disk, maintaining original video quality while keeping audio as-is.

Key advantages include its privacy-by-design approach, as all processing occurs locally, and its cost-free, open-source nature under the MIT license, with no accounts, watermarks, or time limits. It is particularly useful for creators who want to quickly clean up recordings from sources like Riverside, Zoom, or OBS without manual 'umm' or 'uh' removal.
