About freehire
freehire is an open-source search engine for tech jobs that indexes millions of openings directly from company career boards, deduplicates them, and tags each with stack, seniority, and location.
freehire provides a comprehensive platform for tech job seekers, aggregating over 3.7 million unique job postings from more than 550,000 companies and 379 sources. It focuses on indexing jobs directly from company career boards and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) like Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Teamtailor, and SuccessFactors, ensuring that listings are original and not recruiter reposts or aggregator middlemen. The platform deduplicates identical roles posted across multiple boards into a single, normalized entry and performs liveness sweeps to remove expired or 404 listings, ensuring job seekers only see active opportunities.
Beyond its core search functionality, freehire offers a suite of tools to streamline the job application process. This includes an application tracking board, an inbox for sorting employer replies, and ghost-job warnings. For enhanced search, it provides advanced filters and semantic search capabilities, allowing users to find jobs based on specific skills, roles, and locations. The platform also supports integration with AI agents like ChatGPT and Claude via MCP (Multi-platform Communication Protocol) and a CLI for terminal-based search and tracking.
freehire extends its utility with a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox. This extension acts as a job-application agent, scoring job postings against a user's CV to indicate fit before applying. It also automates the filling of application forms on any website, reading the page itself and populating fields from the user's freehire profile, while allowing the user to audit the process before submission. The platform is free to use for job searching and tracking, with optional paid plans for advanced AI-powered application assistance and API access for commercial use.
